===== Problems with Apps15 PC Image ===== The trouble list is stored in [[https://imladris.wpi.edu/Ticket/Display.html?id=433|RT Ticket number 433.]] * Out of the box, the admin account has four items in the trash; the trash needs to be emptied. * The PuTTY host keys for CS and other machines are still wrong, right out of the box. When a user runs PuTTY connecting to WPICS, they get a scary "security breach" message. **NOTE** it appears that numbers 1, 2, and 4 don't function, but Number 3 **does**. This video mode probably wasn't set before the image was sysprepped and uploaded to the image server. * A15 came out of the box with a version of AdBlock for Firefox that was incompatible with the ocncurent version of Firefox. This **might** not be a problem anymore? * (silly) The serif-text used in the Image ID (the text in the upper-right of the desktop wallpaper) doesn't scale down well on lower resolution monitors. Use a sans-serif typeface next time. * The image does not install gracefully onto Dell 760 machines (which are current as of early February 2009). Multiple drivers are missing making installs of a15 onto a '760 tedious. * JL has found lots of deadwood in the registry of A15, which should be cleared off before a new image is made. This stuff can be cleaned off using the [[http://www.ccleaner.com/|CCleaner]] program. * It is not clear if a15 gets windows updates successfully. The group policy for an "intranet windows update server" should be left unset. Run gpedit.msc from windows->run, then click on Computer Config->Admin Templates->Windows Update->Specify intranet MS Update[...] . Th ecorrect entry for his item is "Not Configured." If the item is enabled, disable it. While this seems to be a good idea, CCC has disabled access to this srever in the past, preventing large numbers of machines from getting updated.
