====== Remote KVM Units ====== These give you console access on a machine without sitting in front of the machine. You can issue a Ctrl-alt-delete on console from here, so be careful. ** FIXME FIXME FIXME FIXME this wiki page is hopelessly outdate and needs an overhaul. This would be a good summer project. ** **You cannot do powercycling from here.** Sure, you can try to crtl-alt-delete on a machine, which **may** reboot it, but sometimes a machine is too locked up and far-gone for that to work. To do actual power cycling of a machine, you'll need to login to a [[machine_room_pdu|power strip]] (AKA a "PDU" or "power distribution unit" cspower[1234].cs.wpi.edu) to do that. A client program is required to reach the VNC server: * click for [[http://www.cs.wpi.edu/~mvoorhis/vncviewer-Win32.exe|Windows version]]. * click for [[http://www.cs.wpi.edu/~mvoorhis/vnc-E4_2_7-x86_linux_viewer|Linux version]]. There are two VNC servers in the CS Machine room: **hydra.cs.wpi.edu** and **adder2.cs.wpi.edu**. A list of machines reachable from these two units is provided below. For encryption, leave the default, which is "let the server decide." You should already have a username and password. If not, email system@cs, and an account can be generated for you. ==== adder1 ==== List of hosts accessible via hydra.cs.wpi.edu (AKA adder1) (updated 5 Sept 2011) 01. 13. 02. csopt4 14. 03.
