CSMAIL is the department's email server. When this machine goes down, nobody in the department will receive email, which is OK for a short period of time, but as time goes on becomes more and more critical.

• IMAP mail server, provides access to mail sent to WPICS Unix users. See Directions on how to set up mail reading at WPICS.
• Webmail interface. WPICS Users can use their WPICS Unix account name and password to connect to https://csmail.wpi.edu/cswebmail. The program is (deliberately) spartan, but functions and can be used from anywhere.

In addition to being backed up each night at 23:30, snapshots of the user email are taken every three hours in the day and stored in /backups/csmail/* using a system called RDIFF-BACKUP. See the manual pages on csmail.wpi.edu for a description on how to restore files from the rdiff-backup system.
