This page lists UNIX machines in the department that MCV is responsible for, and has OS versions to help him remember which machines need to be updated (any SuSE-9.3 or 10.3 machine).

SuSE 12.3 goes EOL on the first day of 2015. Upgrade path is to SuSE-13.1, which will have official support until 201505 and unofficial “Evergreen” support until 201611.

Have done many CentOS5 in-place updates; these have always been non-events. Have not (?) done a CentOS5 –> CentOS6 in place update, if that is even possible.

All Xen VMs should be converted to KVM-based VMs, running perhaps on an Ubuntu-10.04 server. CentOS-6 will not support Xen VMs, so we need to start working on this.
